Higher Education
Graduating to a higher level of build and design
The challenges in creating ideal learning, living and recreation spaces for colleges and universities are as numerous as the diverse group of students, professors and other professionals who live, work, learn and play in these spaces each day. These are places where people are not only expected to be educated, but to have experiences that will shape the rest of their personal and professional lives.
One key challenge is the sheer amount of different room types most higher education buildings and campuses need to attract students and teachers, including classrooms, laboratories, retail shops, residence halls, recreation, healthcare and dining halls. And that’s just scratching the surface. We have developed these spaces for new facilities and as part of renovation projects for more than 20 different college and university campuses across the U.S.
At KAI, we weigh heavily the long-term value of every choice we make in the higher education space, considering how each design can be efficiently maintained and operated, while still meeting our clients’ goals, schedules and budget.
