KAI 360 CS Hires Pete Kraus III as Project Manager

KAI 360 Construction Services (KAI 360 CS) is proud to announce the addition of Pete Kraus III as Project Manager.

Kraus is a seasoned construction professional with a demonstrated history working in civil engineering. Having worked on various wastewater, water and transportation projects throughout the Midwest, his expertise spans project and construction management, construction inspection, scheduling, and Owner Representative services.

Before joining KAI, Kraus spent 10 years as a Construction Engineer for St. Louis-based Gonzalez Companies in its Wastewater & Water Division. As a field supervisor, Kraus performed condition assessments of sanitary and storm sewer manholes, oversaw flow monitor installations, and conducted surveying and smoke testing. His background in water and wastewater construction includes plant additions and renovations, large-diameter slip-lining, shotcrete and manhole rehabilitation, lateral reinstatement, combined sewer overflow elimination and replacement, sewer smoke testing, open-cut large-diameter pipe installation, diversion structure construction, and flow monitoring and data analysis.

Recent highlights of Kraus’ project portfolio include:

  • Western Outfall Infrastructure Rehabilitation, Phase 1 – Louisville MSD
    Provided quality assurance and inspection for slip-lining rehabilitation using 96-inch HOBAS pipe over 3,000 linear feet of 114-inch combined brick sewer. Responsibilities included reinstating lateral connections, rebuilding manholes, and performing sewer cleaning.
  • Rudd Avenue Infrastructure Rehabilitation – Louisville MSD
    Oversaw quality assurance and inspection for slip-lining rehabilitation with 108-inch HOBAS fiberglass pipe over 1,900 linear feet of 126-inch combined brick sewer. Work also included shotcrete application on 1,000 linear feet of sewer, reinstating lateral connections, rebuilding manholes, sewer cleaning, and spot repairs.
  • Charlestown Water Treatment Facility – Indiana American Water
    Provided quality assurance and field inspection for the construction of a new water treatment facility for the City of Charlestown, Indiana.
  • SIOTC Backwash Residual Improvements – Indiana American Water
    Served as field engineer for system improvements to backwash residual treatment.
  • B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant – Louisville Water
    Inspected construction of a chlorine dioxide generation system to improve disinfection processes.
  • Smoke Testing & Data Analysis – Metro Water, Nashville, Tennessee
    Performed sewer smoke testing and subsequent data analysis to assess system conditions and identify maintenance needs.

Kraus holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Missouri–Saint Louis and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

He also holds industry certifications in confined space training, fall protection, and OSHA 30 and OSHA 10.

Kraus and his wife, Ashley, have three children, their oldest, Charlotte, and twins, Peter IV and Hannah. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and playing disc golf. After living in Louisville, Kentucky, for seven years, one of his favorite traditions has become attending the Kentucky Derby.
