Linking the University to the Local Community

The Linc
Lincoln University and Jefferson City Parks & Recreation
Jefferson City, MO

A collaborative project between Lincoln University and Jefferson City Parks and Recreation, The Linc is a new multipurpose recreation and wellness center located on the edge of the Lincoln University campus. As its name suggests, it will link the community with Lincoln University and the Jefferson City Parks and Recreation programming.

The 2015 Memorandum of Understanding between Lincoln University and the Jefferson City’s Department of Parks and Recreation followed a year long process to improve both, the Lincoln University and the community services and facilities. The Linc is being cooperatively managed by Lincoln University and Jefferson City Parks and Recreation.

KAI provided complete MEP/FP engineering services for the three-level, 79,808 SF facility. The main level includes four full-size gymnasiums, Parks offices and classrooms. The upper floor features a fitness center with cardio and weight training equipment, rooms for meetings and classes, an elevated walking track, as well as the Lincoln University president’s suite, which overlooks the college’s football field. The basement level houses the Lincoln University athletic department.

There is over 2,000 SF of dedicated indoor program and meeting spaces, all flexible in their size, and can be rented out for small events to large parties such as galas and weddings.
