Engine House One Additions & Renovation
Maryland Heights Fire Protection District
Maryland Heights, MO

KAI Build was selected by the Maryland Heights Fire Protection District to provide general contracting services for state-of-the-art upgrades and two additions to the Engine House One.

Made possible through a bond issue passed by voters, capital improvements to the 22-year-old, 18,902 SF firehouse included a 2,112 SF living quarters addition complete with a modern kitchen and a 4,300 SF apparatus support addition with a workout room on the east and north sides of the building.

Renovations to the firehouse included increased capacity for emergency equipment, improved operational areas and a severe weather safe room. The living quarters received upgrades that promoted gender equality and a dedicated decontamination area was created with specialized gear extractors. The mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection systems also all received upgrades.

The fire apparatus and ambulance continued to run out of Engine House One at 2600 Schuetz Road without disruption to emergency services during the construction process.
