KAI’s engineering group was contracted by TranSystems to complete mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection (MEP/FP) engineering design renovations to 15 retail shops in Terminals 1 and 2 at St. Louis Lambert International Airport.

Completed in phases, the first phase including six retail shops: Spectacles, Eddie Bauer, Hudson News, Discover St. Louis, Bliss and Kids World. The second phase involved the design of nine stores including additional Hudson News and Eddie Bauer stores, Ebony News, Natalie’s Candies, CNN News and Gift and Hudson Sports.

Each store, which varied in size from 700 SF to 3,000 SF, has its own specialty lighting and HVAC systems that were tied into the existing facility’s infrastructure including the fire alarm, chilled water, sprinkler and building management systems. KAI was involved early in the investigation of existing systems and during the construction documentation and start-up for all stores.
