Enhancing Stadium Amenities
Kauffman Stadium has housed the Kansas City Royals since it was built in 1973. The ballpark was in need of some renovations as the MLB team was looking to boost attendance. The Royals wanted to renovate the 750,000 SF stadium while still retaining the same Kauffman charm. This included keeping all the famous fountains and the crown atop the center-field scoreboard.
KAI provided construction/project management services for the renovation. The project included widening the stadium concourses and adding new seating, totaling 39,000 seats. Additional restaurants and shops were added to the concourses as well as multiple entertainment areas beyond the outfield.
The vision was to create a 360 degree entertainment atmosphere with different exhibits geared toward people of all ages. The stadium renovations created a bigger grand entrance with more ticket offices for shorter lines and a larger open-concept gathering areas.
