Enhancing Specialized Care Facilities
The University of Missouri Health Care (UMHC) is a health-care network run by the University of Missouri that includes five hospitals in Columbia as well as numerous clinics statewide. Part of the University of Missouri Health Care’s overall strategic plan for growth was to increase service areas such as surgery and orthopedics. In support of this plan and the University of Missouri Health Care’s mission to provide patients with world-class care in a convenient and comfortable environment, the University of Missouri Health Care added a new, stand-alone Missouri Orthopaedic Institute adjacent to University Hospital.
KAI provided construction management services for the project. The new, 115,000 SF Orthopaedic Institute includes:
- 18 inpatient beds
- Short-stay patient beds
- 6 outpatient operating rooms
- Orthopedic clinics
- Orthopedic laboratories and research space
- MRI room and three radiology rooms
- Physical/occupational therapy clinics
- Pharmacy
- Support spaces
