L.G. Pinkston High School
Dallas Independent School District
Dallas, TX

As part of Phase II of a 2015 Bond Issue, KAI was hired to provide MEP/FP services for a new state-of-the-art L.G. Pinkston High School to replace the original building built in 1962. Sitting on a 21-acre campus, the new school is located in the richly diverse community of West Dallas to better serve more than 1,000 students.

The three-story school houses 38 new core classrooms, an early college wing, a performing arts auditorium, two gymnasiums that also serve as community storm shelters, indoor and outdoor dining, and baseball, softball, football, soccer and track fields all of which surround a large central courtyard where performances and outdoor classes can take place. Special consideration was taken into account to make the facility a green building with energy-efficient roofing, plumbing and light fixtures. The school also incorporated a career and technical education (CTE) component, allowing students to receive specialized training to prepare them for jobs after graduation.

In a joint collaboration with Parkland Hospital, a Youth and Family Center is located in the school to provide health and social benefits to the surrounding community.
