Harris-Stowe State University administrators wanted to add student housing on the quadrangle’s north end, directly facing the historic Henry Givens Administration Building. Opening to the central quadrangle, the new 228 bed Gillespie Residence Hall needed to be consistent with their multi-year campus master plan and provide a central location for student activities.

KAI designed an 83,776 SF Gillespie Residence Hall and Student Center facility where residential life and student activities are co-located in a single four-level structure. In addition to housing over 220 students, the new facility also includes the bookstore, student health and plenty of space to relax. Students also have ample area to study in the computer laboratory and large commons.

Each of the structure’s 57 four-bedroom suites includes two full baths, kitchen, living/dining area and wiring for phone, computer and high-speed Internet access.
