KAI Enterprises proudly announces the promotion of Aleksandar Milenkov, PE, LEED AP to President of KAI Engineering.

Milenkov joined KAI in 2020 as Director of Mechanical Engineering. He was promoted in 2021 to Engineering Design Principal, then to Principal-Engineering in 2023.

As President of Engineering, Milenkov will provide executive leadership for KAI’s engineering practice, setting the strategic vision and championing innovation, technical excellence, and client success across all engineering disciplines. His responsibilities also include leading high-performing teams, driving sustainable business growth, and fostering the development of solutions that address clients’ most complex challenges while creating a meaningful impact on the communities KAI serves.

“I am proud to be part of KAI, where our commitment to making a meaningful difference is embodied in our company-wide initiative, 100 in 10: Transforming 100 Communities Over the Next 10 Years the KAI Way,” said Milenkov. “This ambitious goal reflects a deep dedication to social impact, equity, and sustainable development. At KAI, we believe our work goes beyond designing and constructing buildings; it’s about revitalizing neighborhoods, strengthening communities, and creating environments where people can thrive.”

Milenkov is a nationally recognized leader in mechanical engineering with more than 22 years of focused experience in HVAC, steam and chilled water systems, utility master planning, facility energy auditing and analysis, energy/stress/flow modeling, and construction administration.

Among the many projects Milenkov has had the privilege to work on, contributing to the design of the National Juneteenth Museum in Fort Worth, Texas stands out as a defining moment in his career.

“This project has provided a unique opportunity to help shape a lasting legacy that honors history while inspiring future generations. Our design approach is centered on creating spaces that support and enhance the architectural narrative rather than compete with it,” he said. “For the National Juneteenth Museum, our goal is to foster an environment where visitors feel welcomed, comfortable, and fully immersed in the spirit and significance of Juneteenth.”

Another career highlight for Milenkov has been contributing to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world’s busiest airport, as well as the state-of-the-art IU Health Downtown Hospital in Indianapolis, a 16-story, 864-bed acute care facility.

“Being involved in projects of this scale and impact, each serving millions of people and strengthening the communities they support, has been a source of immense professional pride for me,” he said.

Milenkov graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a member of ASHRAE, an international society of more than 50,000 heating, refrigeration and air-conditioning professionals from over 132 nations.

“Aleksandar has a comprehensive understanding of the engineering business. He is well prepared and tested to assume his new role as President of KAI Engineering,” said KAI Managing Partner Brad Simmons, FAIA.  “Aleksandar is a trusted partner and proven leader that has established himself as an engineering industry expert.  He is not only viewed as a trusted advisor to clients but a thoughtful and steady manager with his teams. Having known Aleksandar for two decades and watching him grow into this crucial KAI senior role has been a pleasure.”
