KAI Build has expanded its St. Louis team with the addition of Dave Callanan as Senior Project Engineer.

In his new role, Callanan serves as a liaison between clients and KAI’s multi-disciplinary team, helping to guide construction projects from concept through completion. He is responsible for ensuring alignment with scope, budget and schedule, while supporting field and office operations out of KAI’s St. Louis office. He is currently assigned to two key initiatives: the Hope & Restoration Community Center and the Urban Sprouts Café.

“Dave is a tremendous addition to the KAI Build team,” said KAI Senior Project Manager Cameron Welch. “Dave supports the team in all aspects of the construction cycle. He is fulfilling a key role within the estimating team in addition to project management. He takes on new challenges and has an eagerness to expand his knowledge from the carpentry trade into the general contracting side of our business. His background in carpentry and project management, plus his leadership skills, will serve our clients well in keeping their projects running smoothly and on schedule.”

Callanan brings 8 years of construction industry experience, including roles as a carpenter, estimator and project manager. Most recently, he worked as a project manager/estimator for AME Constructors in St. Louis. He is OSHA 10-hour certified through the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America and is also a licensed Master Captain with the U.S. Coast Guard.

His project portfolio includes renovations to Powell Symphony Hall, the Nursing and Health Sciences Center at St. Louis Community College’s Florissant Valley Campus, and elevator upgrades at Mount Grace Convent, home to St. Louis’ cloistered Pink Sisters.

Callanan holds Associate of Arts and Sciences degrees in Construction Management and Architecture from St. Louis Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Webster University in Webster Groves, Missouri.

A St. Louis native, Callanan lives in Kirkwood, Missouri, with his wife. He’s also lived in Park City, Utah; Breckenridge, Colorado; Virginia Beach, Virginia; and the Lake of the Ozarks. His hobbies include snowboarding, wakeboarding, boating and renovating houses.

Callanan’s addition reflects KAI Build’s continued commitment to assembling a team of skilled, hands-on professionals who bring deep industry knowledge and a passion for community-focused work. His experience and leadership will help drive forward projects that reflect KAI’s mission to build stronger, more resilient communities.
